About the Role 

As WorkCover embarks on an exciting growth phase marked by significant enterprise and digital transformation, you’ll play a pivotal role in this journey. Reporting to the Head of Digital Engineering, this role will see you manage the end-to-end lifecycle of WorkCover's cloud services portfolio, ensuring our cloud solutions deliver real business benefits while minimising risk. As a key operational interface, you’ll oversee cloud strategy, planning, delivery, and maintenance, optimising value and driving continuous improvement. 

You’ll take charge of vendor and contract management, collaborating closely with IT teams to manage critical incidents and significant changes. Your ability to align cloud platform strategies with business objectives will be crucial in ensuring our services meet evolving business needs. 

You’ll be a human-centric, people-focused leader and facilitator, serving as a conduit between business and technology with strong commercial acumen. Proven ability to lead and manage large-scale teams, including direct oversight of 5 senior leaders and their teams totaling over 30 individuals, will be essential. You’ll demonstrate success in guiding leaders of leaders and achieving organisational objectives across multiple management layers. 

You’ll build trusted relationships across the organisation to create seamless and productive experiences. Leading a dedicated team, you’ll foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Your expertise in cloud platform management will be vital in implementing security measures, ensuring compliance, and evaluating new technologies to keep WorkCover at the forefront of the industry.

How do I apply?

• Proven experience in cloud platform management, particularly with AWS and a smaller portion with Azure, including strategic oversight and hands-on operational execution. 

• Demonstrated success in leading and managing large-scale teams, guiding leaders of leaders and their teams, to achieve organisational objectives across multiple management layers. 

• Demonstrated leadership and governance skills, with a track record of managing large-scale cloud platforms and ensuring effective governance, security, and compliance. 

• Strong understanding of cloud architecture principles, such as infrastructure as code, microservices, and containerization, with a focus on continual optimisation and operational excellence. 

• Experience in strategic and operational leadership, including the ability to align cloud strategies with business objectives, manage vendor relationships, and drive financial operations (FinOps). 

• Proven ability to build and execute cloud service strategies, including talent management, strategic partnerships, and workforce planning for future cloud engineering needs.
